Claridge + King is a line inspired by his closet, yet created just for her. We design with an enduring sense of style, striving to create clothing with thoughtfulness and attention to every detail.

The inspiration behind our designs reflects our affection for menswear tailoring, fabrics, and his traditional color palette of subdued hues. Our aesthetic is reflective of his closet, with pieces borrowed from him, only to be re-imagined for her. The link to menswear can be quite subtle (such as cuff link detail or stitching on a pocket) or much more overt, like the garment that gave birth to our brand: The His is Hers® Shirt. Believing there isn’t anything more alluring than a woman dressed in nothing but a man’s dress shirt, we debuted with our signature The His Is Hers® multi-tasking shirt, inspired by the sensual notion of a woman wearing her boyfriend’s, husband’s, or father’s beautifully made button-down shirt, yet one tailored to flatter her figure and can be worn day or night. It’s menswear classically redefined for her.

We strive to build a collection of pieces our customer desires to amass and wear with the accessories and clothing she already owns and adores. C + K designs incorporate a sense of timelessness, made modern. This sense of enduring style bridges seasons with updates made to the favorites in our closet. Eschewing fashion fads for a quiet, yet elegant style that prevails for decades, C + K creates pieces that also multi-task in a women’s wardrobe.

Founders:

Laurann Claridge and Lizbeth King, sisters, and partners in Claridge + King, launched their eponymous company in the fall of 2008. For years the two searched for an oversize menswear-style shirt they could lounge about in, sleep in, wear to the beach, or throw on over a mini skirt or leggings. “Ever since I was a teenager, I loved wearing my dad’s and, later, my boyfriend’s worn-in, button-down shirts,” Claridge recalls. “The problem was, while the sleeve length might work, the tails were too short. Or perhaps it was roomy enough, but the cuffs extended past your fingertips.” A Texas-based style magazine editor, Claridge worked on prototype after prototype to get the proportions right on the slightly oversized button-down shirt. Fascinated by English Savile Row suiting and shirting, Claridge + King pays homage to the tradition of tailoring, while adding a soft, feminine twist to classic men’s styles made expressly for women.
